Latin: Samba


Samba is one of the most common forms of Afro-Brazillian music and is a national symbol of Brazil. The rhythm is fun ad playful, whether played or danced to.

The music was originally played only on percussion istruments. The traditional percussion instruments often included are double bells, rattles, tabouringes, and a friction drum called the puita.

The beats below are to be applied to the drum kit in three separate parts. Mix and match many different rhythms using the rhythms below.

Beats:

Hands - Play these patterns with both hands; one hand on ride and one on snare. Add the samba foot patterns when ready. When this is easy, apply the ride cymbal patterns (see below) to your ride hand, while the snare hand maintains these parts.
