Half-Time Shuffle is a style made popular by Bernard "Pretty" Purdie, the world's most recorded session drummer. The playing style is mainly used in funk, but has also been applied to Rock tracks.

In this section, you will find different patterns to practice to improve your 12/8 feel. These all have a half-time shuffle feel.

Beats

Be musical with the volume of the snare notes - you will often play ghost notes on all notes except for 2 and 4. Practice changing the accents so that you have the coordination and limb independence to play anything on the snare.
